Raiders Shoot Lights Out in Win at Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. – The MSOE men's basketball team shot a school-record 68 percent from the field on its way to an 80-62 win against Beloit Saturday afternoon at Flood Arena.

The Raiders (3-4) shot 72.4 percent in the first half in building a 49-28 lead over the Buccaneers (2-5) at the intermission.

Junior Austin Stueck led MSOE with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, while sophomore Collin Seubert hit on 7-of-10 from the field and finished with 18 points. Junior Connor Patterson made all eight of his field goal attempts and had 18 points to go with seven rebounds in the game.

The previous record for field goal percentage in a game was 65.5 percent against Edgewood Jan. 17, 1991.

Rudy Bently led Beloit with 18 points. Steve McAfee scored 15 points.

The game was tight in the opening minutes, with four early lead changes. The Raiders tied the game for the final time at 11-11 and took the lead for the final time shortly thereafter. They built their lead to 10 points for the first time 9:43 into the game when Seubert hit a three-pointer to make it 23-13.

The Bucs fought back within five at 25-20, but MSOE responded with a 23-9 run over the final 8:46 of the half to take a 21-point lead into the break.

A smaller 9-0 run early in the second half made for a game-high 28-point lead at 61-33 and the Red & White coasted to the victory.

MSOE returns to action Tuesday, playing at Maranatha.
