Box Score MADISON, Wis. – Junior Megan Kroll and sophomore Holly Denfeld scored 26 points apiece to lead the MSOE women's basketball team to an 88-72 victory over Edgewood Tuesday evening at the Todd Wehr Edgedome.
The Raiders (4-1, 3-1 NACC) scored the final eight points of the first half to overcome a six-point deficit and extended their run to 42-20 in opening a 16-point second-half lead on the Eagles (2-6, 2-3 NACC).
Kroll added eight rebounds and three assists and Denfeld grabbed seven boards with two blocks. Sophomore Shaylan Reardon just missed giving the Red & White three 20-point scorers, finishing with 19 points. Seniors Marly Trier and Bre Strong scored six points each and Trier had four steals.
Mariah Hill led EC with 18 points. Rachel Pope added 16 and Sierra Jiran finished with 14.
With just over three minutes to go in the first half, Edgewood took its largest lead of the game at 32-26. Four different players hit baskets over the final minutes of the opening frame to overtake the home team and carry a 34-32 lead into halftime.
Denfeld opened the second half with a basket and the Raiders continued to gradually pull away, taking a 68-52 lead at 4:13 in the second half.
MSOE shot 47.5 percent from the field, getting to the free throw line 40 times and making 28 (.700). The team also finished with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 15 to 13. Defensively, it limited Edgewood to just under 40 percent shooting and 20 turnovers.
The Raiders defeated the Eagles in Madison for the second-straight season after losing their first 26 games at Edgewood.
MSOE returns to action Thursday, hosting Maranatha at the Kern Center.
