ROCKFORD, Ill. – Freshman Holly Denfeld had a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds, but it was not enough as the MSOE women's basketball team fell at Rockford 87-79 Saturday afternoon.

The Raiders (12-8, 10-5 NACC) split their season series with the Regents (9-11, 6-9 NACC) and remain in the hunt for a top four seed and home quarterfinal game in the upcoming NACC Tournament.

Denfeld shot an efficient 6-of-7 from the field and grabbed six offensive boards for MSOE. Senior Shannon Larson and junior Bre'Ana Strong scored 15 points apiece, while Strong added nine boards. Junior Marly Trier finished with 12 points and freshman Corrine Sanford scored 10.

Lindsay Lengjak led Rockford with a game-high 24 points. Katie Clark chipped in 14 points and Jessica Bjerning scored 14.

The Raiders played from behind most of the game and still trailed by 13 at 64-51 with 9:36 to play. They started to cut into the lead, but could get no closer than six down the stretch. Unfortunately, each time MSOE scored from that point, RU answered.

Both teams made 29 field goals in the game, with the difference coming down to the free throw line. The Regents went to the charity stripe 37 times, converting 27, and the Raiders went 19-for-24.

MSOE returns to action Tuesday, hosting Edgewood at the Kern Center.
