Box Score MILWAUKEE - The MSOE men's basketball team put six players in double-figures to collect its eighth-straight win, 84-70, over Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday evening at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (21-4, 16-4 NACC) extended their school record for wins, while pushing their winning streak within one of the school record. Meanwhile, despite the loss, the Warriors (10-15, 9-11 NACC) clinched the No. 8 seed in the NACC Tournament.
MSOE clinched the No. 2 seed and will host No. 7 Edgewood Saturday evening at 7 p.m.
Sophomore Connor Patterson led the way with 18 points, as the Red and White starting five all reached double-digits. Sophomore Austin Stueck scored 15, senior Jaren Singh and junior Jeremiah Erdmann each had 13 and senior John Cording had 12. Junior Nathan Verdun chipped in 10 off the bench.
For WLC, Jake Jernigo scored a game-high 21 points and DJ Escamilla had 16. Brett Lubbe finished with 12 points and Kyle Stelse had 11.
The entire game was a period of runs, as the Raiders opened the game on an 11-5 spurt, just to see WLC respond with a 13-2 run to make it 18-13 Warriors at the 12:30 mark.
MSOE responded with an extended 25-6 run to take control of the game. The Red and White defense held the visitors without a field goal for 6:38 of the stretch, scoring 14-straight points. Erdmann made it 38-24 at 3:38.
The Warriors then closed the first half on a 10-3 spurt to make it a seven-point game at the break, 41-34.
Stueck undid that by scoring the first eight points of the second half to push his team's lead to 15 at 49-34. WLC still would not go way, holding the Raiders without a field goal over the next 4:42 during a 12-2 run. Then, moments later, it was just a four-point game at 53-49.
Once again MSOE pulled away, using a 10-2 run to push its lead back to 12, only to have Wisconsin Lutheran match that run and get back within four at 65-61.
This time, the Raiders held off WLC's efforts, keeping their lead near double-figures and letting the visitors no closer than seven down the stretch.
Cording led the defensive efforts with five steals and eight rebounds.
