Box Score 2 MILWAUKEE - The MSOE softball team was limited to six hits in two games as it dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Concordia Wisconsin, 7-0 and 4-0, Sunday afternoon at MSOE Athletic Field.
The Raiders (7-7, 1-3 NACC) got three hits in each game as they could just not solve the Falcon (10-8, 4-0 NACC) starters on the day.
In game one, it was scoreless until the third inning. MSOE got the first two batters of the inning out, but the next three singled in a row to push the first run across. Then, after an intentional walk to load the bases, another singled scored two more.
Concordia then would add two runs in each of the final two innings in support of starter Melissa Perkins (4-3). She scattered four baserunners in seven innings, striking out a pair.
Freshman Sara McConnell (4-2) got the start in the circle for MSOE, she pitched a total of 5.2 innings after re-entering late. She struck out four, but gave up 12 hits and four earned runs. At the plate, she struck for two of her team's three hits.
The Falcons jumped ahead early in the second game, scoring first with two outs again. This time it was the first inning when the visitors had one on and two outs. Mariah Giesseman then hit a triple and came around to score on a single up the middle.
Freshman Shannon Curtis (2-4), who made a brief relief appearance in game one, started game two and looked to have settled down after that first inning. She allowed just one hit over the next four innings before CUW tallied two more runs in the sixth. Her line for the day saw her allow six hits and three earned runs in seven innings. She struck out three and walked none.
Curtis' counterpart, Jamie Schuh (3-1), scattered three hits and struck out eight in the game.
MSOE returns to action Tuesday, playing Mount Mary in a doubleheader.
