Box Score MILWAUKEE - Sophomore Shaylan Reardon hit the go-ahead jumper with 1:02 remaining and sophomore Margaret Pugh came up with a steal just before the final buzzer to send the MSOE women's basketball team to a 49-47 victory over Rockford Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.
The Raiders (15-5, 11-4 NACC) overcame a cold shooting spell to overcome a late deficit and edge the Regents (4-16, 3-12 NACC) at the end.
Sophomore Holly Denfeld led MSOE with 18 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Reardon and senior Marly Trier finished with 11 points each. Pugh's steal was her fourth of the game, while junior Megan Kroll had four steals and five blocked shots.
Amanda Davis and Diamond Williams led the visitors with 14 points each.
The Raiders trailed by five at 45-40 with 4:39 to play, but ended the game on a 9-2 run to escape with the victory. Denfeld hit a layup and, after a Regent basket, Pugh hit a pair of free throws.
Denfeld had a putback with 1:45 to play to make it 46-45 Rockford and Pugh came up with a steal on the ensuing possession. That led to Reardon's jumper from inside the top of the key.

The Red & White got off to a hot start, making 11 of its first 19 shots to take a 23-14 lead on a Trier layup at the 9:03 mark of the first half. That's went both teams went cold, with neither team making a field goal until there was five seconds remaining.
For MSOE, the cold stretch extended into the second half and was a total of 10 minutes, 11 missed shots and eight turnovers. The team's defense did well to keep the Regents close, forcing them into 11-straight misses and seven turnovers before a three-pointer with five seconds remaining made it 23-21 at halftime.
Rockford was able to take the lead early in the half and led by as many as five down the stretch.
The Raiders shot 35.7 percent in the game and committed 18 turnovers. The defense stepped up to keep the game in tact, limiting the Regents to 35.3 percent shooting and forcing 23 turnovers. The Red & White came away with 15 steals and blocked eight shots.
MSOE returns to the court Tuesday, hosting Edgewood.
