WATERTOWN, Wis. – The MSOE women's basketball team overcame a rough shooting night Monday to down Maranatha Baptist 44-37 for its fourth-straight win.

The Raiders (4-4) shot just 26.7 percent, but limited the Sabercats (2-4) to 29.4 percent and forced the home team into 23 turnovers to secure the victory.

Junior Holly Denfeld scored 13 points to go with eight rebounds to lead the Red & White. Senior Megan Kroll added 11 points and five steals in the game and junior Margaret Pugh chipped in nine points.

Alexis Johnson finished with a game-high 14 points and 18 rebounds for Maranatha.

MSOE never trailed in the game, but, each time it pulled away, MBU fought back to keep it close. It built multiple 10-point leads in the game, including 39-29 after a Kroll free throw capped an 8-0 run with 2:12 remaining in the third-quarter. The Sabercats responded with the next seven points as the Raiders went 7:41 without scoring and 12 minutes without a basket.

Fortunately, the Red & White recovered to close the game on a 5-1 run and held Maranatha without a basket over the final 4:31 of the game for the win.

The Raiders finished with a season-best 15 steals on the night behind Kroll's efforts. Senior Marly Trier added three steals and two blocks, while freshman Jamie Spanbauer also had three steals. Junior Lizzy Hilby had a team-best 10 rebounds in the game.

The Raiders return to action Friday in NACC play at Marian.
