Box Score LISLE, Ill. – The MSOE men's basketball team could not keep up with No. 10 Benedictine in falling 84-58 Wednesday evening at the Rice Center.
The Raiders (2-4, 1-2 NACC) jumped out to an early lead and kept the score close until the Eagles (6-0, 3-0 NACC) pulled away with a 12-2 run to close the first half and take a 42-29 lead into halftime.
Freshman Max Wojcik scored 16 points in 20 minutes off the bench to lead three players in double-digits for MSOE. He knocked down four 3-pointers to go with three assists and two steals. Seniors Austin Stueck and Connor Patterson tallied 10 points each.
Benedictine was led by Tahron Harvey's 19 points. Michael Blaszczyk scored 10 points and three players finished with nine points each.
MSOE built an early 17-14 lead on a three-pointer from junior Collin Seubert at the 11:18 mark of the first half. BenU then responded with its first big run of the game, 15-2, for a 28-19 lead. The Raiders did not back down, going on an 8-2 run of their own to make it just a three-point game at 30-27.
The Eagles then produced a 15-2 run to lead 45-29 early in the second half and they never looked back.
For the game, the Raiders shot 34.8 percent from the field and hit on 8-of-21 from three-point range. They could not contain the BenU offense, as the home team shot 51.5 percent from the field, including 10-of-19 from beyond the arc.
MSOE is back in action Saturday, hosting Dominican at 2 p.m.
