Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – Junior Austin Stueck scored a season-high 31 points, but it was not enough as the MSOE men's basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 71-56 loss to Concordia Wisconsin in the NACC Quarterfinals Saturday afternoon at Buuck Fieldhouse.
The Raiders (13-13) could not overcome a four-point deficit at the half, trailing the Falcons (17-9) throughout the second half in seeing their season end. CUW advances to the semifinals against Benedictine Tuesday.
Stueck shot 14-for-24 from the field for his fourth 30-point game of the season. He added seven rebounds, three steals and two blocks in the game. Junior Connor Patterson was the only other MSOE player to reach double-digits in scoring with 10.
Bradley Pinson led Concordia with 17 points, while Keith Kahlfeldt added 14. Mark Scholz also scored 14 points off the bench.
There were eight ties and 11 lead changes through the first 16 minutes of the game, with the Raiders last leading at 23-21 on a Stueck jumper 4:53 before halftime. The Falcons responded with seven-straight points to take the lead for good and headed into the intermission with a 30-26 advantage.
In the second half, MSOE would pull within a point twice early in the frame, but each time the home team would pull away. CUW gradually added to its lead and saw it peak at 16 down the stretch.
The Raiders could not get on track offensively, shooting 35.5 percent in the game. Meanwhile, Concordia shot 42.6 percent in the game to maintain its foothold. At the free throw line, the Red & White was also just 8-of-13 (.615), while CUW was 14-of-17 (.824).
With the season ending, Stueck became the fourth different player in school history to finish a season averaging 20 points or more a game (20.3). Patterson also just missed the single-season field goal percentage record (.673), finishing at .665 shooting.
