MEQUON, Wis. – The MSOE softball team pulled within 4-3 in game one, but Concordia Wisconsin tacked on a pair of insurance runs to claim a 6-3 victory Monday afternoon at CUW Softball Field.

The Raiders (6-10, 1-3 NACC) then conceded eight first-inning runs in game two, as the Falcons (11-7, 4-0 NACC) secured the doubleheader with an 11-1 in five innings.

Freshman Caitlyn Moran led MSOE with three hits on the day, collecting two of the team's five hits in game two. Junior Katie Ready and freshman Gabbi Garcia also had hits in both games.

It was the Raiders striking first in game one, pushing across a pair of runs in the second inning. Moran led off with a triple and scored when junior Beth Young reached on an error. Four batters later, it was Young coming around to score on senior Mikala Wendt's bunt single.

CUW then pulled back a single run in the bottom half of the frame and took the lead with two runs in the third with registering a hit and just one official at bat. The Falcons capitalized on three walks, a hit batter and a sacrifice fly.

Another run in the fourth inning gave the home team a 4-2 lead, but the Raiders had a rally going in the sixth inning. Ready doubled to lead off the frame and advanced to third on a fly out. Young pushed the run across with a squeeze bunt. Unfortunately the rally ended on a line out double play.

Concordia scored two more runs in the sixth inning for more breathing room and to provide the final score.

In game two, the Falcons scored eight runs in the first half and MSOE could not rebound. The only Red & White tally came in the third inning, when Moran drove in Wendt with a two-out double.

The Raiders return to the field Thursday, hosting Maranatha at MSOE Athletic Field.
