Box Score ROCKFORD, Ill. – The MSOE men's basketball team shot over 50 percent and limited Rockford to less than 28 percent in the half in pulling away for 75-60 victory Saturday afternoon at the Seaver Center.
The Raiders (11-8, 8-6 NACC) and Regents (10-9, 7-8 NACC) were tied at 29-29 in the second half before the Red & White pulled away with strong play on both ends of the court in the second half.
Senior Austin Stueck led MSOE with 20 points and six assists in the game. Senior Connor Patterson and junior Collin Seubert had 12 points apiece, while senior Dylan Jones and freshman Max Wojcik added eight points each off the bench. Jones chipped in with a team-best eight rebounds.
John O'Bryan finished with a game-high 24 points for Rockford. Ross Arteaga had 12 points and Tony Diemer scored 10 points to go with 10 rebounds.
The Raiders played from the lead for much of the second half, gradually pulling away from the Regents. The score was tied at 40-40 less than eight minutes into the second half when Stueck, Wojcik and Seubert hit back-to-back-to-back three–pointers during a quick 9-2 run to get some breathing room.
MSOE held RU without a field goal for nearly seven minutes in opening a 13-point advantage at 66-53 on a three-point play by sophomore Tegan Miles with 2:41 remaining. The Red & White then closed out the game on a 7-2 run.
The Raiders finished the game shooting 45.8 percent, hitting on 8-of-20 three-pointers, and turned the ball over 13 times. Rockford finished the game shooting just 32.8 percent, knocking down just four 3-pointers. The home did, however, go 14-for-17 at the free throw line, compared to 13-of-23 for the Red & White.
MSOE returns to action Wednesday, hosting Wisconsin Lutheran at the Kern Center.
