Box Score BELOIT, Wisconsin – Senior Collin Seubert led three players in double-figures with 18 points, but it was not enough as the MSOE men's basketball fell in its season-opener, 74-59, to Beloit Saturday afternoon at Flood Arena.
The Raiders (0-1) led the Buccaneers (1-0) by three at halftime, but could not hold off the home team.
Seubert added three assists and four steals to his day, while freshman Matthew Kirmse scored 16 points and sophomore Max Wojcik finished with 13. Kirmse drained four 3-pointers in the game.
Andrew Bremner led Beloit with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Tristan Shoup chipped in 15 points off the bench, while Mike Gulve and Cody Risseuw tallied 14 points each.
The Bucs jumped out to a 16-8 lead just over nine minutes into the game, but the Red & White responded with a 16-0 run to seize the lead. Wojcik's jumped at 6:52 made it a 24-16 game. Beloit cut into that lead, but MSOE went into intermission ahead 32-29.
In the second half, BC started to pull away. The score was tied at 38-38 when it went on an 11-3 run to gain some separation. The Bucs then slowly pulled away down the stretch.
Beloit used its size inside the entire game, scoring 32 points in the paint and shooting 45.5 percent from the field. The home team also got to the free throw line 23 times to the Raiders' 11. MSOE shot 37.1 percent in the game.
The Raiders return to action with the start of league play Tuesday at Lakeland.
