MILWAUKEE – Junior Greg Pigg scored a career-high 19 points, but the MSOE men's basketball team could not overcome a hot Edgewood offense in falling 87-74 Wednesday evening at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (1-2, 1-1 NACC) played tight with the Eagles (1-3, 1-1 NACC) throughout the night, but couldn't keep up when the visitors shot 67.9 percent in the second half.

Pigg did his damage in 21 minutes off the bench. Senior Collin Seubert posted his second-straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Max Wojcik added 10 points.

Adam Freitag led four players in double-figures for Edgewood with 19 points. Tyler Westrick scored 17 points off the bench, Sy Staver finished with 11 points and McClain Steffens chipped in 10.

The Eagles jumped out to a nine-point lead early at 15-6, but the Raiders battled back to tie the score at 20-20. The score was tight throughout the rest of the period, as EC took a 29-27 lead into halftime.

After the break, Edgewood seemingly could not miss, steadily pulling away throughout the half. MSOE responded early, battling back within one possession, but a Pigg three-pointer at the 13:41 mark of the half pulled the Red & White as close as it would get the rest of the way at 44-41.

The deficit was just six points on another Pigg three with just under four minutes remaining, but the Eagles made three of their final four shots and 9-of-11 at the free throw line to pull away down the stretch.

The Raiders shot 38.8 percent from the field, hitting on a season-best nine 3-pointers on the night. They also protected the ball with just 10 turnovers against 11 assists. Edgewood, meanwhile, finished the night shooting 52.6 percent for the game, including 10-for-24 from beyond the arc.

MSOE returns to the floor Saturday at Illinois Tech.
