Raiders Clinch NACC Tourney Berth With Win on Senior Day

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – Seniors Connor Patterson and Austin Stueck each posted double-doubles on senior day to lead the MSOE men's basketball team to an 80-66 victory over Rockford in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at the Kern Center.

The Raiders (13-12, 10-10 NACC) clinched the final NACC Tournament bid, edging the Regents (13-12, 10-10 NACC) for the final place. They'll open tourney play as the No. 6 seed at No. 3 Concordia Wisconsin Wednesday.

Patterson shot 9-of-13 from the field on his way to 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Stueck finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Rockford put four players in double-figures, led by Michael Murray's 19. Zach Wallace had 15 points and 11 boards, while Tony Diemer and John O'Bryan added 10 points each.

The Raiders stared strong in each half to pull away from the Regents. RU had led 8-6 on a basket with 16:17 to go in the first half, but MSOE did not allow the visitors another made field goal for nearly 10 full minutes, while overtaking them on a 20-7 run. The score was 26-15 when Rockford next hit a field goal at the 6:33 mark.

The game was not over by any stretch, as the Regents rallied to pull within 29-27, only to see the Raiders pull away a bit for a 32-27 halftime advantage.

In the second half, MSOE quickly rebuilt its 10-point lead less than three minutes into the frame at 41-31 and steadily pulled away. Rockford would pull as close as five, but, over time, the Red & White's lead grew to as many as 16 when senior Brent Radlinger drained a three with 5:41 remaining to make it 69-53.

MSOE shot 46.9 percent for the game, including 53.3 percent in the second half. Defensively, it limited RU to 33.9 percent.

Every senior had a big day and pushing the team into the post-season. Radlinger finished with five points, three assists and two steals; Garrison Glowniak had three points and three rebounds; and Steve Morel had four points from the starting lineup. Dylan Jones finished with four points, six rebounds and two blocks off the bench.
