The Raiders (2-4, 1-0 MLC) scored eight times in the fourth quarter to break the record of 22 goals in a game and down the Griffins (1-7, 0-4 MLC) to get league play started on a winning foot.
Gustafson entered the game with 118 career points, needing just three to match Brent Finnegan's program record of 121. He finished the game with four goals and two assists for 124 career points, equaling the record with an assist just seven seconds before halftime and breaking it with a goal just 16 seconds after the break.
In addition to Gustafson's six-point day, MSOE also got big scoring outputs from junior Oliver Kennedy, who scored four goals, as well as hat tricks from juniors Oliver Winsor and Thomas Reid and freshmen Harrison Davies and John Wilson.
Winsor added three assists for six points while Reid and Davies assisted on two goals each.

The Red & White defense also had a strong day, yielding just nine shots in the match. Junior Pat Collins made four saves in working the first half in goal. Freshman Collin Hall played the bulk of the second half in goal and freshman Jack Collins made his collegiate debut with 8:30 of scoreless goalie play to end the game.
MSOE opened the game with three-straight goals and led 5-1 after one period. It then equaled the scoring output in the second quarter, including a pair of goals in the final minute, to take a 10-2 lead into halftime. The Raiders then shut out the Griffins in the third quarter in expanding their lead to 15-2. They closed out the match with a big 8-1 fourth quarter.
Freshman Brett Laffey continued a strong run on face-offs, winning 13-of-20 in the game. He's now won 36-of-48 draws (.750) over his last three games. Freshman Brian Rupp also went 8-for-8 in face-offs in the match as the Red & White won 21-of-29 total.
