Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Florida – The MSOE Softball team continued to test themselves on their Florida trip by splitting games against Capital and Neumann.
In game one, the Raiders (3-2) faced the Crusaders (2-4), however, the luck was in the favor of the opponent as MSOE dropped the game 3-8.
Notable performances for the Red and White were Rachel Ziemba who went 3 for 4 scoring 2 runs and hitting in 1, and Amanda Manssen who went 2 for 3 and also drove in 1 run. Emily Wiederholt pitched 4 innings striking out 2. Liz Gale and Sarah Grossman pitched a combined 3 innings to finish the game. MSOE had 8 hits on 29 at bats compared to Capital that had 11 hits on 30 at bats.
In game two, the Raiders (4-2) faced the Neumann Knights (6-2). MSOE was focused on finishing the day strong, and that they did. Although the first inning was not exciting, the second saw MSOE put 8 runs on their opponent, eventually winning the game 10-0.
Amanda Manssen had 3 hits on 4 at bats with 2 RBI's and scoring once. Emma Megal had 1 hit, 1 RBI, and scored herself. Lorrin Pondo had 1 hit, but it resulted in 3 RBI's. She also earned the win (2-1) on 4 innings and 4 strikeouts. Sarah Grossman finished the game pitching 1 inning.
The Raiders return to the mound March 1st at 8:15am against Cabrini and Alma at 10:30am.
