Box Score MILWAUKEE – The learning curve has been somewhat high during portions of the 2019-20 season for MSOE women's basketball, but this afternoon showed how much progress they've made. The Raiders had no quit against Edgewood College on Saturday, though they ultimately fell by 14 points.
RESULTS
Edgewood – 64
MSOE – 50
HOW IT HAPPENED
MSOE (6-15, 6-10 NACC) were slow to get out of the gates against second place Edgewood (20-2, 15-2 NACC), scoring just seven points in the opening ten minutes. Even though they were already down by near double-digits entering the second quarter, the Raiders stormed back and outscored the Eagles 16-12 to cut the EC lead in half heading into the intermission. This was due in large part to a 25 percent increase in field goal percentage between the two periods. Unfortunately, the Eagles came out on a big run to begin the second half and limited the Red & White to just five points. But again, the Raiders refused to throw in the towel. MSOE was able to cut the Edgewood lead to just five halfway through the final frame before the Eagles went on an 8-0 run to seal the deal. In the end the Raiders held another team below their points per game average but had this one filed under the loss column at the end of 40 minutes.
RAIDER REMARKS
- One facet of the game that the Raiders just couldn't hang with Edgewood in was points in the paint. The Eagles outscored MSOE 30-10 in that category.
- There weren't many second chance points in the game this afternoon, but the Red & White did have the slight 7-3 edge.
- The Raiders had just 10 turnovers in the ballgame, their lowest single game total all season.
