Box Score MILWAUKEE – Crown them. After a hard-fought fall season, MSOE women's soccer locked down a share of the NACC regular season championship when they defeated Wisconsin Lutheran in a "home as away" matchup at Viets Field on Thursday night.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
Wisconsin Lutheran – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (16-3-0, 12-1-0 NACC) knew what they needed to do. A win would earn them a share of the NACC regular season championship. Beating Wisconsin Lutheran (4-13-1, 3-9-1 NACC) by three would hand them the second seed in the tournament and a first round by. Both of those tasks were taken care of within the first 30 minutes of the match.
- Grace Quinn got the Raiders started when she put home a Louisa Essuman pass in the 14th minute.
- Emma Halverson would give the Red & White a two-goal lead just 24 seconds later before Quinn made it 3-0 with her second goal of the contest in the 30th minute.
- Essuman would provide all the scoring for the Raiders in the second half, recording two tallies just three minutes apart. She was helped out by Nikki Ratts on the first goal and Addison Spilman and Nicole Robb on the second.
- MSOE would allow just nine Warrior shots all evening as they locked down a 12-1-0 NACC record in 2021.
RAIDER REMARKS
- This is the second straight season in which the Raiders have earned a share of the NACC crown. They also were co-champions of the NACC North regular season title with Concordia Wisconsin last spring during the abbreviated COVID season before beating the Falcons to win the NACC North Tournament championship as well.
- MSOE ended the season tied with Concordia Wisconsin and Dominican, marking the first time in conference history that the season ended with triple champions. The Raiders earned the second seed over Dominican based on the goal differential tiebreaker.
- MSOE and WLC played tonight's game at Viets Field due to conditions of the Warriors facility in Wauwatosa. However, the Raiders were the away team in the contest.
- The Red & White are now 9-1 in their last ten games against WLC and have an overall 14-7-1 advantage over the Warriors in the all-time series.
