Men's Basketball Can't Complete Comeback

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – MSOE men's basketball was looking to snap their three-game losing streak when they welcomed Benedictine to the Kern Center for their last ballgame before Christmas. Unfortunately, a big first half deficit was too much to overcome in the Raiders four point loss.

FINAL SCORE
Benedictine – 67
MSOE RAIDERS – 63

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (5-5, 1-3 NACC) was unable to slow down the Benedictine (4-5, 3-1 NACC) offense in the first half. The Eagles shot 55 percent and were able to convert ten Raider turnovers into 13 points.
  • A 9-0 Eagles run late in the first half put the Red & White in a 16-point hole to begin the second, but the Raiders were able to climb back into the contest and took a one-point lead with 8:25 remaining.
  • The momentum swung back Benedictine's way however, and while their lead would never amount to their first half advantage, they were still able to keep MSOE at bay even with the Raiders 60.9 second half field goal percentage.
  • The Eagles were able to convert on 18 of their 23 free throw attempts, 14 of which came in the second half, in their four point win over the Raiders.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • The loss snapped the Raiders modest two game win streak against the Eagles and are now 4-6 in their last ten games against Benedictine.
  • Michael Pitrof is now ranked 15th in career scoring for the Red & White with 1,035 points.
