Raiders Dim Stars In Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILWAUKEE – Less than 24 hours after sweeping #18 Carthage, #16 MSOE was back on the diamond and looking for two more wins. The Raiders, who were taking on Dominican in a non-conference matchup, easily dispatched the Stars in game one before needing some last at-bat heroics to complete their second straight sweep to start the season.

RESULT
Game One
Dominican – 1
#16 MSOE – 9

Game Two
Dominican – 2
#16 MSOE – 3

HOW IT HAPPENED
#16 MSOE (4-0, 0-0 NACC North) had their offense clicking in game one of the afternoon against Dominican (3-3, 3-1 NACC South). The Raiders scored in every inning but the third and fifth and tallied three in both the first and the sixth. Six Red & White players registered at least one RBI in a game that ended in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a Caitlyn Spreitzer single that enacted the eight-run rule. Emily Wiederholt earned her first win of the year by striking out five and giving up just one run.

Game two was a much closer affair. Both teams went scoreless in the first three innings before Dominican plated two unearned runs to begin the fourth. The Raiders tied the game in their next trip up to the plate when Jenna Trewyn drove home both runners on an RBI double to left field. MSOE had their chance to take the lead in the sixth with runners on second and third but failed to push them across the plate. However, the Raiders would load the bases in the bottom of the seventh, setting up a Celine Pacheco single off the pitcher to walk it off for the second straight day.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • With the 9-1 win in game one, head coach Kyle Knoblauch earned his 100th win with the Raider program.
