Raiders Give Up Just Four Hits In DH Rout Of CUC

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

RIVER FOREST, Ill. – When things are going well, they are going really well. #14 MSOE softball added two more victories to their growing win total and kept their perfect record intact by sweeping Concordia Chicago on Wednesday afternoon in convincing fashion.

RESULTS
Game One
#14 MSOE RAIDERS – 4
Concordia Chicago – 0

Game Two (Five Innings)
#14 MSOE RAIDERS – 15
Concordia Chicago – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
It is not that hard to win when you do not let the other team get on base, which is exactly what the Raiders did on Wednesday. #14 MSOE (8-0, 0-0 NACC North) had no issues whatsoever in controlling the Concordia Chicago (2-10, 0-0 NACC South) offense, allowing just five Cougar baserunners in 12 total innings of play.

Game one was the closer of the two, with the Raiders scoring a single run in every odd numbered inning. Jenna Trewyn knocked in two runners with singles in the third and the fifth while Lauren Stefanczyk singled home a run in the first and Grace Salaja added an RBI via a fielder's choice in the seventh. Lorrin Pondo kept the Cougars bats caged, striking out ten while throwing a complete game three hitter for her fourth victory of the season.

The gap between the two teams was much, much wider in the second ballgame. The Raiders would once again score one in the first and third innings before the floodgates opened in the top of the fourth and fifth. MSOE scored a total of 13 runs in those two frames highlighted by a Morgan Long grand slam. Long added another RBI to give her five in the game with a single in the fifth while pitchers Emily Wiederholt and Sarah Grossman combined for just one hit in their 15-0 victory.

MSOE STAT TRACKER – TWO GAME TOTALS

Stolen Bases – Four with one
Strikeouts – Lorrin Pondo (10)
