Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 FOND DU LAC, Wis. – No. 24 MSOE softball looked to get back on track this afternoon when they headed north to take on Marian to kick off the last series of the regular season. The outcomes of these games were not crucial to their postseason hopes as the Raiders already locked down the second seed in the NACC north division tournament, but they would have preferred to take both games instead of splitting with the Sabres on Friday afternoon.
RESULTS
Game One
#24 MSOE Raiders – 8
Marian – 1
Game Two
#24 MSOE Raiders – 3
Marian – 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was all No. 24 MSOE (26-6, 13-5 NACC North) in game one. The Raiders complied 13 hits and spread eight runs across three different innings. Lorrin Pondo threw all seven innings and struck out ten, lowering her season ERA to 0.95. Celine Pacheco and Lauren Stefanczyk each had RBI doubles and were two of the five Red & White student-athletes who drove in a run in the Raiders 8-1 win over Marian (22-16, 10-8 NACC North).
The Sabres had the last laugh unfortunately. After Pacheco singled in the first run of the game in the top of the first inning, Marian took the lead with two in the second. The Raiders drew even again in the fourth, but MU came back once again with another pair in the next inning. However, the lead they obtained with those runs in the fifth would hold up. Pacheco got her second RBI of the game in the sixth but it would not be enough as the Raiders fall 4-3.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders will wrap up the regular season tomorrow afternoon when they host Marian for the final two contest on their four-game series. First pitch from the MSOE Athletic Field is scheduled for Noon.
