Turnover Filled Second Half Derails Raiders

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – Coming off a dominating victory over Lakeland on Tuesday evening, MSOE women's basketball was looking to make it two in a row when the Regents of Rockford came to town. Unfortunately, a disastrous second half derailed the Raiders hopes as they fell inside the Kern Center on Saturday afternoon.

FINAL SCORE
Rockford – 57
MSOE RAIDERS – 48

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • This afternoon's contest was truly a tale of two halves. MSOE (6-8, 4-4 NACC) dominated play in the first half, using stifling defense to keep Rockford (8-8, 4-6 NACC) under 27 percent shooting from the field.
  • The Raiders offense also looked better than they have all season as they used an aggressive tempo and plenty of drives to the hoop to build up a ten-point lead heading into halftime.
  • It was out of the intermission that things fell apart for the Red & White, however. MSOE committed 13 turnovers over the final two quarters and made just seven field goals. Meanwhile, the Regents found their rhythm and turned the Raiders lead into a deficit with 8:16 left to play.
  • The Red & White went scoreless for the last 1:36 as they drop a heartbreaker to Rockford by nine.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • This was Rockford's first win over the Raiders since they beat the Red & White 65-55 back on January 28, 2017.
  • Raekyiah Williams has now scored at least 11 points in four out of the last five games she has played in.
