Raiders Get First Win In Home Opener

Box Score

MILWAUKEE – MSOE women's basketball finally played within the friendly confines of the Kern Center on Wednesday night, marking the first time they had done so during the 2022-23 season. Home court advantage could not have come at a better time as the Raiders picked up their first win of the campaign in an overpowering performance against Alverno to begin NACC play.

FINAL SCORE
Alverno – 31
MSOE RAIDERS – 62

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (1-5, 1-0 NACC) got off to a somewhat slow start in the first few minutes of the tonight's contest against Alverno (1-4, 0-1 NACC) but the Raiders quickly figured it out to take a four point lead into the second frame.
  • The Red & White did the most damage in the second ten minutes of play as they outscored the Inferno 24-2 to open up a sizable gap heading into the intermission. The Raiders shot 71.4 percent in the second quarter while limiting Alverno to 0-11 shooting from the field and gave up just two successful free throw attempts.
  • The MSOE offense could not keep up with that torrid shooting pace in the third or fourth frames, but their lead was much too big to ever put the outcome of the game in question. The Raiders bench came up big as well, pitching in 43 in a 31 point win to open up their conference season on the right foot.

RAIDER REMARKS

  • The Red & White's domination over Alverno continued on Wednesday. MSOE has won 14 straight games against the Inferno dating back to 2014.
  • Raekyiah Williams earned her first double-double of the season and tied a career high with 16 points this evening.
