Lack Of Offense Leads To Split With Sabres

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

MILWAUKEE – No. 16 MSOE softball finally played Marian this afternoon in a contest that was originally supposed to be played on March 26th and got rescheduled twice. The Raiders were on the wrong end of a tough luck loss before storming back to split the doubleheader with the Sabres at home on Thursday.

RESULTS
Marian – 1
#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 0

Marian – 3
#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 4

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Game One
    • It's never a good feeling when you drop a game but allow no earned runs. This is exactly what happened to No. 16 MSOE (21-5, 14-4 NACC) in the first contest of the day.
    • Starter Kennedy Lehn allowed two hits all afternoon and struck out 16 Marian () batters but an error on a ground ball with runners on first and second plated the games lone run in the sixth inning.
    • The Raiders only managed to record three hits in the 1-0 loss.
  • Game Two
    • The Red & White faced some adversity in game two as well, but they were able to come out on the positive end of things.
    • MSOE scored their first run of the day in the bottom of the second when Grace Salaja singled to center. The 1-0 lead would turn into a 3-1 deficit however as the Sabres offense jumped into action in their next at bats.
    • The Raiders would get those runs right back though in the bottom of the third. A Jenna Trewyn RBI single would eventually lead to a Caitlyn Spreitzer RBI triple that brought the MSOE catcher around to score to tie up the contest. The Raiders plated the winning run the very next inning when Kara McKenna shot a ball through the middle after Salaja reached via error.
    • Sarah Grossman struck out two and pitched the first three innings before giving way to Lehn who won her 14th game of the season 4-3 and added eight more strikeouts to her daily total.
