Comeback Attempts Only Work Once For Raiders

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ROSEMONT, Ill. – No. 16 MSOE softball traveled to Illinois for the last time in the regular season to take on Dominican in a Friday doubleheader. The Raiders came from behind in game one but couldn't pull off the same magic as they will travel back to Milwaukee with only one victory against the Stars.

RESULTS
#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Dominican – 2

#16 MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Dominican – 5

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Game One
    • No. 16 MSOE (22-6, 15-5 NACC) has had to battle from behind more often than not recently and game one was no exception. The Raiders went down 1-0 to Dominican (26-10, 13-9 NACC) and the score stayed right there until the top of the sixth inning.
    • The Red & White two out rally started when Grace Salaja reached via an error and moved Caitlyn Spreitzer, who got on base at the beginning of the inning via a walk, over to second. Faith Matta was the next batter up and singled home both Salaja and Spreitzer. Kara McKenna then tripled to plate Matta to make it 3-1 MSOE.
    • The Stars got one back in the bottom of the sixth, but starter Kennedy Lehn shut the door in the seventh to record another complete game and her 15th victory of the year.
  • Game Two
    • The Raiders were once again faced with a deficit in game two but there would be no coming back to save this one. DU plated three in the first to grab a lead that they would never relinquish.
    • That's not to say that the Red & White didn't try to fight back though. Singles from Lauren Stefanczyk and Salaja scored two Raider runs in the second and a Spreitzer sacrifice fly in the third added another.
    • The Stars neutralized MSOE from the fourth inning on however and the Raiders left the trying run on first base in the top of the seventh during a 5-3 loss.
