Raiders Shutout By Firebirds

KENOSHA, Wis. –  MSOE women's tennis took part in their last warmup before the NACC tournament kicks off when they faced off against Carthage on Friday. Though the Raiders didn't take away a win, there were still some valuable lessons learned that they can take into the quarterfinals.

MATCH SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 0
Carthage – 9

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • MSOE (6-11, 5-4 NACC) played in their last non-conference match of the 2021-22 athletic year when they traveled down south to take on Carthage (9-10, 5-3 CCIW).
  • The Red & White gave the Firebirds a challenge in doubles action, especially out of the second and third matches. While they didn't come away with a victory in either game, the teams of Gabrielle Haensgen/Michaela Haensgen and Brenna Sheehan/Bethany Noonan didn't make things easy with 8-4 and 8-3 losses.
  • The Raiders had minimal success in singles play outside of the match in the fourth spot. Michaela Haensgen took her opponent to a third set tiebreak but ended up losing 3-6, 6-1, 5-10.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Raiders will begin the NACC women's tennis tournament on Monday when they take on No. 4 seed Wisconsin Lutheran at 10:30 am.
