Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 GLENDALE, Wis. – It's rare to have such a big matchup so early on in the conference regular season, but a meeting between MSOE softball and Concorida Wisconsin fit that description. The two top-25 teams squared off on Saturday night with fans in attendance seeing a pair of incredibly well pitched games and more history by Kennedy Lehn as the Raiders and Falcons split their doubleheader.
RESULTS
#16 Concordia Wisconsin – 4
#17 MSOE RAIDERS – 1
#16 Concordia Wisconsin – 0
#17 MSOE RAIDERS – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- No. 17 MSOE (10-2, 3-1 NACC) just couldn't cash in on any of their chances in game one. The Raiders left a total of ten on base and were only able to push across one run against No. 16 Concorida Wisconsin (15-2, 3-1 NACC) and one of the best pitchers in the conference.
- The Falcons were able to take advantage of some control issues from starter Kennedy Lehn and registered five hits and seven walks.
- CUW did most of their damage in the top of the fourth with a two RBI single and while Grace Salaja cut the Falcons lead down to 4-1 with a single of her own in their last at-bats, MSOE left the bases juiced during that same frame in a three-run loss.
- Game Two
- There were no control issues to be found for Lehn in the second game. The junior walked just one batter and outside of a hit by pitch, no other Falcon reached first base.
- Lehn went all seven innings and gave up no hits for the second time this week to win her eighth ballgame of the season.
- The Falcons pitching was just as good and a Jenna Trewyn bases loaded single in the third was the only run that came around to score for the Raiders as they salvage a split with CUW 1-0.
RAIDER REMARKS
- Kennedy Lehn's second no hitter of the week sets Raiders history on two different accounts. The team has never had more than one no-no in a season and no other Red & White player has ever had two solo no hit bids in their career, yet alone in the same seven-day span.
