Box Score DALLAS, TEXAS – MSOE started the 2022 season a long way from home as they traveled to Texas for a two-game road trip. This evening's battle was against host UT-Dallas, and it proved to be a good one. It was a back-and-forth affair before the Raiders sealed the deal with two straight tallies on Thursday night.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
UT-Dallas – 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (1-0) outshot UT-Dallas (0-1) to the tune of 9-3 in the first half but it was the Comets that got on the board first in the 18th minute. It wasn't until Leena Afifi teamed up with Maggie Thillman for the duos first Raiders goal and assist respectively that the Red & White would get on the board.
- The two squads entered the second half tied at 1-1 before UT-Dallas would once again take a one goal lead after 12 minutes had elapsed off the game clock. Addison Spilman sparked a late rally however, burying Thillman's second helper of the night to tie the game with just over 10 minutes left to play.
- With no overtime in the regular season starting this year, the Red & White wanted the win and not the tie. Their wish was granted when Nicole Robb buried a penalty kick in the 82nd minute to give the Raiders a 3-2 lead that they would not relinquish.
- Reagan Tompkins and Page Sanchez split time in net with Sanchez picking up her first career win thanks to MSOE's second half comeback.
RAIDER REMARKS
- This was the first ever meeting between the two teams.
- The Raiders offense was active with five different Red & White players registering at least two shots.
