AURORA, Ill. – The MSOE men's basketball team looked to use the three-point line to their advantage Wednesday night at Aurora University but couldn't stop the hot Spartans late.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 78
Aurora - 86
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Back-to-back three pointers from Matus Dopirak got MSOE (1-6, 0-3 NACC) started hot before Aurora (6-3, 3-0 NACC) settled in tying up the game at 10 just fives minutes in. The Spartans then developed a lead of their own 20-12, but Carson Cordelli and Chase Cummings each created baskets of their own to tie it up at 30. The Raiders retook the lead as Max Beuthin connected from long-range, heading into the break leading 42-40.
- The Raiders took their largest lead of the night as Donovan Carter connected deep for a 53-42 lead three minutes into the second half. The Spartans used the home-court to their advantage, cutting into the deficit and battled back-and-forth with the Raiders. As the minutes began to tick down, the baskets began to fall for the Spartans and not for the Raiders, unable to get the job done.
