Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Starting it's season with two extra inning contests, the MSOE softball split it's first doubleheader of the season at the 2023 Spring Games falling to Alma to start the day before being victorious against Messiah.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vs. Alma
- The defense came to play the start the season as MSOE (1-1) held the Alma (1-1) offensive scoreless through seven innings of work. The Scots had two baserunners on in the second innings from two singles, but two of Kennedy Lehn's 13 strikeouts ended their chance.
- Unfortunately, in extra innings, a double from the Scots brought in the first run of the game. In the bottom half of the inning, the Raiders couldn't get the ball in play tie up the game, losing 1-0.
- Vs. Messiah
- Things quickly changed to start the second game as the Raider offense put up three runs in the first inning. Lauren Stefanczyk singled into left as Jenna Trewyn reached on an error to set up Morgan Long who connected on a double to left to bring home Stefancyzk and move Trewyn to third. Trewyn scored on the next batter as Celine Pacheco hit a deep drive into center to advance her home and bring Long to third before Faith Matta singled into right field to bring her home.
- Messiah (3-3) would answer throughout the next three innings to tie the game at 3 to force extra innings. As Stefancyzk was placed at second, Trewyn started the inning with a walk as Long singled to the shortstop to set up bases loaded for Pachero. Stefanyzk was out on a fielder's choice at home before Matta hit a sacrifice fly to the center fielder to bring Trewyn home for what would be the game winning run.

The Raiders will return to the field tomorrow for the 2023 Spring Games when they face Calvin at 8 AM and Neumann at 1 PM.
