Box Score 2 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – On the second day of the 2023 Spring Games, the MSOE softball split their matchups, falling late to Calvin University and surviving with late inning heroics against Neumann University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Game One
- It was a quick strike for MSOE (2-2) as Lauren Stefanczyk walked to start the first inning and advanced to second a groundout from the next batter. She set up for Morgan Long who singled into the outfield and scored by obstruction at the plate.
- Calvin (2-0) eventually tied the game in the fourth inning from errors from the Raiders, eventually take the lead later in the inning from another error as well. The Raiders had an opportunity to try and take the lead in the top of 7th with two runners on base, but a grounder to third base ended the game.
- Game Two
- Neumann (1-4) got things started in the top of the first with a sacrifice fly to centerfield to take the early 1-0 lead. Faith Matta in the bottom of the second inning made her way all around the basepath with a single into left field, eventually stealing second base and advancing to third on a groundout setting up Jocelyn Clodi for an RBI single to tie the game at 1.
- In the bottom of the third, it was Grace Salaja's turn to circle the basepath as she reached on an error from the second basemen and then stealing both second and third. Stefanczyk hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield to bring Salaja home to take the lead, but the Knights answered in the fifth re-tie the game at two.
- Grace Brown played the hero in the bottom of the sixth inning as with two runners on hit a single through the left side to bring home Matta and take the lead heading into the final inning. Kennedy Lehn returned to the circle to finish it for the Raiders, striking out the final batter to seal the win.

The Raiders continue the 2023 Spring Games tomorrow, February 28th, taking on a pair of American Rivers Conference opponents with No. 14 Wartburg College at 8 AM and University of Dubuque at 10:30 AM.
