MILWAUKEE – Back for another three game homestand, MSOE men's lacrosse took on Augustana in the first of back-to-back non-conference games. The Raiders kept pace with the Vikings in the first half before pulling away in the second for the three goal victory on Thursday afternoon.
RESULT
Augustana – 6
MSOE RAIDERS – 9
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (7-3) had to battle a little more than they would have liked in this game, but things started off strong with a Riley Woyatas man-up goal to open up the scoring. Augustana (5-7) then put in the next two before Sean Roberts tied things up with 2:26 left to go in the first quarter.
- The Vikings continued to make things interesting though. They netted two straight goals once more and would have taken a two goal lead into halftime if it weren't for strikes from Tanner Whipps and Ethan Marasco to make it 5-4 at the break.
- The Raiders came out strong in the second half though and completely dominated the game from the third frame on. Woyatas, Whipps, and Sam Thompson each added tallies in that quarter with Soren Savard and Whipps padding the lead in the fourth.
- Augustana scored their last goal of the game with 6:09 still left on the clock which wasn't nearly enough to overcome the Raiders 6-0 second half run.
- Thomas Miles stopped 17 shots in net as the Red & White win their seventh straight, this time by a score of 9-6.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders have now won two straight against Augustana after dropping the first seven contests of the series that started back in 2012.
- Tanner Whipps is now four points away from moving into second place on the Raiders all-time career list in that category.
