ALBION, Mich. – MSOE women's soccer kicked off their 2023 season on Friday afternoon across Lake Michigan when they took on the Britons of Albion. The Raiders used the defense that won them 13 games last season to their advantage while the offense came through with two timely goals as the Red & White earn the shutout to kick off the new campaign in the win column.
RESULT

Albion – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (1-0) outshot Albion (0-1) by six in the first half and had their nine-attempt barrage pay off in the 26th minute when senior Emma Halverson set up sophomore Elizabeth Kuhn for the first goal of the Raiders season to put them up by one.
- The Red & White doubled up the Britons in the shot column again in the second half while going on to add an insurance tally at 78:19 with an unassisted goal by Katie Kuhn.
- The MSOE defense allowed just three shots on goal and Reagan Tompkins picked up the win with her first half start as the Raiders come away with a 2-0 shutout.
RAIDER REMARKS
- The Raiders outshot the Britons 17-7 over the course of the 90 minute contest.
- The win is MSOE's first against Albion. It's a young series however as the two teams first met back in 2021.
