Six Goals Propel Raiders Against Lakeland

MILWAUKEE – MSOE women's soccer came into Wednesday night's contest with Lakeland looking to move their shutout streak to five games when they welcomed Lakeland to Viets Field. Not only did the Raiders blank another opponent, they didn't let the Muskies get a single shot off in a 6-0 win.

RESULT
Lakeland – 0
MSOE RAIDERS – 6

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE's (7-0-2, 3-0 NACC) first goal of the contest was once again the game winner and occurred just nine minutes in when Leena Afifi scored to make it 1-0. The Raiders then added two more first half goals when Samantha Shaver netted the first and second tallies of her career just over two minutes apart from each other with senior Grace Quinn getting the assist on the first strike.
  • Lakeland (3-5, 0-3 NACC) once again gave up another quick Red & White goal, this time to Elizabeth Kuhn just 39 seconds after coming back to the field from halftime. Afifi would then score again thanks to assists from Olivia Carroll and Maggie Thillman before Olivia Zersen wrapped things up for the home team with a goal in the 66th minute.
  • The Raiders defense was unforgiving and didn't allow a single shot attempt to the Muskies as they earn yet another shutout to run their goals against per game average to 0.44 in the six tally victory.
RAIDER REMARKS
  • The Raiders haven't given up a goal to the Muskies since they beat Lakeland 2-1 back on October 26, 2013.
  • MSOE achieved a tie for the fourth most corner kicks in Raiders single game history tonight with 17.
