Raiders Split Contests at the CCIW Duals

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The MSOE men's wrestling team traveled to Wheaton, Ill. for the CCIW Duals.  The Raiders lost to North Central but managed to beat Elmhurst to finish the day all evened up.

RESULTS
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
North Central College – 45

MSOE RAIDERS – 25
Elmhurst University – 20
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs. North Central
    • MSOE dropped the first four matches against North Central and found themselves trailing 20-0 early on.
    • Michael Smith picked up the first win of the day for the Raiders with a 20-4 technical fall win to bring the score to 20-5.
    • The Raiders would go on to drop the remaining five matches, and fall 45-5.
 
  • vs. Elmhurst
    • The Raiders dropped the opening contest but Alex Morales was answer the Raiders needed, with a 13-1 major decision win to tie the meet up at 4-4.
    • Max Sanderfoot would pick up a fall victory and six big points for the Raiders, followed by Connor Nagela grinding out a 3-1 decision win.  Smith would cap off three straight wins for the Raiders after a 13-1 major decision, and the Raiders found themselves ahead 17-4.
    • The Blue Jays would answer with three straight wins of their own and take the lead 20-17.  Jake Schmitt was the man of the hour for the Raiders as his narrow 2-1 decision win was enough to get the Raiders tied up and after a forfeit at heavyweight, MSOE won 25-20.
 
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders next meet is the Pete Willson Invite on Friday, January 26th in Wheaton, Illinois.  The action begins at 11:00AM.
