Manheim, PA – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) proudly announced the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-American Awards recipients on Friday, with three members of the MSOE men's wrestling team earning the honor. The MSOE Men's Wrestling team as a whole earned NWCA Scholar Team Top 30 status with their combined GPA of 3.67.
Ben Messier, Jackson Hughes and
Toren Vandenbush set a high standard for the program both on the mat and in the classroom, meeting one of the following academic and athletic criteria:
- WRESTLING - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
- Place in top 8 in the regional tournament
- Wrestle at least 15 matches and have a win percentage greater than 66%.
- ACADEMICS - Must accomplish at least 1 of the 2
- Must have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2
These are the second NWCA Scholar All-American award for Hughes and Vandenbush, and the first for Messier. "These student-athletes have demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence both on the mat and in the classroom. We commend their dedication and the example they set for the sport," said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer.
