HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (1-1, 0-0 NACC) and Augustana (3-1, CCIW) came out of the gates of the first set in a true battle with the Vikings having the largest lead of 10-7 in the beginning stages. Two errors from the Raiders and two kills from Carter Shavitz brought the set back to an 11-11 tie as they once again traded back and forth. An ace from Tommy Clausz speared headed them into the lead before Ian Glashagel ended the set himself with an ace of his own, 26-24.
- The Vikings regrouped for a narrow 25-22 victory in the second set, but the Raiders weren't phased in the third. Back-to-back kills from Shavitz started a 7-1 run before then taking a 9-2 lead. A mix of errors from the Vikings and kills from both Glashagel and Shavitz put the Raiders up 2-1 one with an easy 25-16 set three.
- The script flipped as the Vikings took a 14-8 lead midway through with the Raiders storming back to take a 21-20 lead. The Vikings unfortunately found themselves with the hot hand to force a fifth set with a 25-22 win. Tied up at 10 in the final set, kills from James Zippay and Matthew Schultz gave the Raiders the small advantage they needed, setting up Shavitz for the final kill for the 15-13 victory.
