Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day with Shutout

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team secured their fourth straight shutout win on Saturday afternoon, as the team celebrated Senior Day in style with a 5-0 win over the Spartans of Aurora University.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
Aurora Spartans – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (11-4-1, 7-1-1 NACC) and Aurora (2-10-3, 1-5-3) held each other scoreless for a majority of the first half, as the Raiders outshot the Spartans fourteen to two across the opening 45 minutes.  The Red and White would finally find the back of the net with eight minutes left to play in the first, as an unassisted Addison Spilman goal put the Raiders up 1-0 as they carried the lead into the halftime break.
  • Spilman would add her second goal of the game at the 57:07 mark of the second half thanks to a feed from Grace Quinn as the Raiders began to find their rhythm on offense.  Maggie Thillman would add another goal for the Raiders just over five minutes later, as reigning NACC Player of the Week Faith Papazoglou set up her teammate perfectly to put the Red and White up 3-0.
  • Another Thillman goal, this time from Claire Bradford, would put the Raiders up 4-0 as all MSOE had left to do was park the bus and head home.  Maddox Trent would nab her first career goal with less than five minutes on the clock as the Raiders secured their fourth straight shutout win.  The Raiders have won their last six meetings with the Spartans, dating back to September 2019.
