Women's Soccer Blanks Benedictine

LISLE, Ill. – In their final road trip of the regular season, the MSOE women's soccer team continued their defensive dominance, recording another shutout en route to a 4-0 victory against Benedictine University.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 4
Benedictine Eagles – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (12-4-2, 8-1-2 NACC) and Eagles (0-12-6, 0-7-4) remained scoreless through the first 20 minutes of play, as MSOE recorded eight shots before the winless Eagles mustered their first of the afternoon.  Samantha Shaver would put the Raiders up 1-0, using her head to convert a corner kick opportunity thanks to great passing from Grace Quinn and Faith Papazoglou.  The Raiders would maintain their 1-0 lead at halftime as they outshot Benedictine 18-3 in the first half of play.
  • The Red and White would tally their second goal of the day just three minutes after the halftime break, as Papazoglou found the back of the net unassisted to extend the MSOE lead.  The Raiders put the clamps on the Eagles in the second half, holding Benedictine shotless across the final 45 minutes of play.  Both Maggie Thillman and Elizabeth Kuhn would beat the Eagles keeper and pad the Raiders lead to 4-0 coming down the stretch, as the Raiders held their opponent scoreless for the sixth straight game and the ninth time this season overall.
