Women's Soccer Closes Regular Season with Shutout

MILWAUKEE – In their final contest of the regular season, the MSOE women's soccer team recorded their ninth shutout win of the season as six different Raiders found the back of the net in a 6-0 thumping of Wisconsin Lutheran.

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 6
WLC Warriors – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Raiders (12-4-2, 8-1-2 NACC) wasted little time against the Warriors (7-6-4, 3-5-4) as the Red and White recorded two goals in the opening seven minutes of the game.  Maggie Thillman found Elizabeth Kuhn to open the scoring for MSOE at the 3:56 mark, before Grace Quinn added another Raiders goal less than three minutes later thanks to a sweet feed from Samantha Fleischman.  The Raiders dominated the time of possession against WLC, as they held the Warriors to just one shot on goal across 90 minutes of play.  Rosario Etcheverria Abuin and Thillman would each add goals to the Raiders total in the first half, as MSOE shifted into cruise control in the second half with a 4-0 lead.
  • Following an Addison Spilman goal to open the second half, the Raiders turned to their bench to close out the game.  Nearly every member of the active roster saw minutes down the stretch for the Red and White, as Kit Gormley tallied her third goal of the season from point blank range, after a beautiful crossing pass from Etcheverria Abuin to extend the MSOE lead to 6-0.  The Raiders secured the 2nd seed in the NACC tournament with the shutout win, going 8-1-2 across conference play.
