MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team hosted the Stars of Dominican University for Homecoming 2024, as two of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) battled to a 1-1 draw on Viets Field.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Dominican Stars – 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- MSOE (7-4-1, 3-1-1 NACC) would open the contest on the attack, as Faith Papazoglou recorded the first Raider shot less than a minute into the game, as the Red and White had three corner kick opportunities in the first five minutes of play but the Dominican (5-4-2, 4-0-1 NACC) defense held strong. The Stars would follow up a Claire Bradford scoring chance and be the ones to strike first, taking a 1-0 lead just over seven minutes into the contest. The offensive production would slow for the Red and White as time wound down in the first half, as the physical play from both teams disrupted any offensive production, as the Stars and Raiders combined for thirteen fouls in the first half.
- Coming out of the break, it took MSOE just over two minutes to find the equalizing goal, as the connection of Addison Spilman to Elizabeth Kuhn remained supercharged, tying things up for the Raiders at 1-1 after beating the Stars goalkeeper bottom left. With over 40 minutes left to play, the Raiders would go on to outshoot the Stars 10-5 but were unable to find the back of the net again, as Grace Quinn mustered two shots on goal for the Red and White in the final ten minutes, but time ran out on the Raiders as they settled for a stalemate.
