Raiders Shutout Falcons in 3-0 Triumph

MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month on Wednesday night, hosting the Falcons from Concordia University Wisconsin, as the Raiders shutout one of the top teams in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC).

RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
CUW Falcons – 0

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • MSOE (8-4-1, 4-1-1 NACC) and CUW (7-4-1, 5-1-1) entered the contest as two of the premier teams in the NACC, as both the Falcons and Raiders would look to establish themselves on the offensive end early.  After a solid chance from reigning NACC Offensive Player of the Week Elizabeth Kuhn was saved, Faith Papazoglou would convert on a penalty kick opportunity to the Red and White up 1-0 to a raucous ovation from the fans at Viets Field.  The Raiders would outshoot the Falcons 10-4 across the first 45 minutes of play.
  • After trading shots with CUW to open the half, team captain Addison Spilman would deliver for the Raiders as she weaved through traffic to tap in a goal from point blank range to extend the Raiders lead to 2-0 at the 63:05 mark of the contest.  Spilman would connect once more before the evening was over, as the Mundlein, Illinois native placed a rocket of a kick in the top right corner of the net to put any hopes of a Falcons comeback out of reach with just under 20 minutes to play.  The Raiders would go on to hand the Falcons their first conference loss of the season as MSOE secured their eighth win of the season, and their fifth in conference.
