MEQUON, Wis. – Making just the short trip up I-43, the MSOE men's hockey couldn't get past the stingy defense of Concordia University Wisconsin Friday evening.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Concordia Wisconsin - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Out of the gate, Concordia Wisconsin (2-4-0, 1-2-0 NCHA) came out firing just 1:14 into the game for an early 1-0 lead. MSOE (1-3-1, 1-2-0 NCHA) had their first crack at a powerplay opportunity just minutes later, when after a scrum near the pipes Eddie Shepler and Ethan Thombs helped find Casey Roepke to fire one past to tie it at one.
- In the second period, the Falcons upped their offensive attack, outshooting the Raiders 15-9. Just when the Raiders were hoping to sneak away from the second period with changes on the scoreboard, a powerplay with just two seconds remaining was all the Falcons needed to score quickly for a 2-1 lead. Things went quiet for the Raiders in the third period as nothing could get passed the tender for the Falcons, including the final three minutes solely being shots from the Raiders, as they fall short just up the road.
