Women's Volleyball Drops Matches to Eagles & Thunder

MADISON, Wis. – The MSOE women's volleyball team took their final road-trip of the regular season for a conference matchup against Edgewood College, followed by a nonconference match against Wheaton College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • vs. Edgewood
    • MSOE (12-18, 4-8 NACC) came out hot starting on a 5-2 run that was capped by a block from Ava Larson and Gillian McDaniel. Back-to-back aces from Edgewood (19-9, 11-1 NACC) tied things at eight before they stormed on an 8-0 run to help run away with the first set 25-17.
    •  The Raiders continued to remain in match when a kill from Ashley Murphy tied things at 17 in set two, but things went completely south ther when the Eagles didn't allow another point, winning 25-17 again. The Eagles continued their hot streak in the third, roaring out to a 18-7 lead, finishing on a 10-0 run. A block from Larson and Abby Balkema hoped to stop the hot streak until the Eagles continued to attack the Raiders, finishing the match winning 25-9.
  • vs. Wheaton
    • Wheaton (13-14, 2-6 CCIW) took advantage of a fatigued Raiders squad early on, taking an 18-11 advantage early. After a kill from Larson, Thunder miscues helped aid the Raiders to bring the set to within two late 24-22 until they regrouped for the final point to take the first set 25-22.
    • The Thunder continued to build up a slowly build up a massive lead in the second and third sets, being broken up by kills from Hannah Gilbert and Murphy. Despite the breaks in momentum, the Thunder easily handled the Raiders in each set, winning 25-13 and 25-11.
WHO'S ON DECK
The Raiders return home on Thursday, November 7th, for the final home game of the season against Rockford University. First serve is set for 7:00 PM.
