MILWAUKEE – En route to
Mason Dopirak surpasses 1,000-career points, the MSOE men's basketball picked up their first home win of the season against Beloit College Wednesday evening.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 67
Beloit - 54
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Beloit (2-2, 0-0 Midwest) knocked in the first five points before a tip in from Carson Cordelli got MSOE (2-2, 0-1 NACC) on the board just over 90 seconds in. Chase Cummings connected on a three from Cordelli to take an 8-7 lead before the Buccaneers retook the lead until midway through the half. After a drive from Donovan Carter gave the Raiders a 16-15 advantage, jumpers from him and Dopirak extended the Raiders lead to its largest of 14 with just over two minutes remaining in the half. The Buccaneers could only cut it to 12 at the break as the Red & White led 33-21.
- The Buccaneers cut into the deficit right out the break, narrowing it to six but back-to-back shots from Dopirak and Carter pushed the lead back to double-digits 38-27. Things got even closer at the midway point of the half when the Buccaneers cut it to one possession 49-46 but quick points from Jonathan Burroughs and Joey Jendusa extended it back to eight. It didn't get closer as Anay Amoah put the final touches with two free throws to seal it.
