MILWAUKEE – The MSOE women's soccer team hosted their semi-final matchup of the NACC Tournament on Tuesday night, as the Raiders bested the Stars of Dominican University on Viets Field, pushing the Red and White through to the NACC Championship match against Illinois Tech
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 1
Dominican Stars – 0
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders (15-4-2, 9-1-2 NACC) and Stars (11-6-3, 9-1-2) went up and down the field in the first half, as neither team was able to find the back of the net across the first 45 minutes of play. As Dominican looked for long passes down the pitch, the Raiders were nearly able to capitalize down the stretch of the first half, while both Elizabeth Kuhn and Addison Spilman saw the only shots on goal for MSOE narrowly saved by the Stars keeper.
- After a trio of corner kicks in the opening of the second half, the Raiders would finally get the advantage on the Stars off a beautiful bending shot from the foot of Grace Quinn, putting MSOE ahead 1-0 as the Viets Field crowd erupted with anticipation. With less than 20 minutes left between the Raiders and the championship game, the Red and White would stand tall, with goalkeeper Page Sanchez making several key plays down the stretch to keep the Raiders in control. MSOE advances to the NACC Championship for the second straight year, as they gear up for a rematch of last season's championship game against Illinois Tech, which the Raiders won 1-0 in overtime on November 4th, 2023.
