RIVER FOREST, Ill. – Relying heavily on points in the paint and the mid-range, the MSOE men's basketball team defeated Dominican University on the road Saturday afternoon behind a season-high 22 points from
Donovan Carter.
FINAL SCORE
MSOE RAIDERS – 72
Dominican - 63
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Dominican (2-7, 0-4 NACC) knocked in a three to get the scoring started, MSOE (6-3, 2-2 NACC) knocked in the next six from Mason Dopriak and Carson Cordelli for a 6-3 lead. The Stars rattled off the next five to force a Raider timeout to help them compose themselves as a steal and slam from Jonathan Burroughs tied the game at 11. The Raiders didn't find themselves sitting comfortably in the driver's seat until late in the half until an 8-0 run that started when Chase Cummings tipped in a miss as they lead 36-32 at the break.
- Things were stannic coming out of the break until near the midway point when the Stars retook the lead 48-47 with just under 12 minutes to play. After trading the lead with free throws from Cummings and a layup from Joey Jendusa, the Raiders went ahead six after a layup from Carter with nine minutes to play, but three minutes later was axed after the Stars tied things at 58 with six minutes to play. Carter began to help put the team on his back to help carry the Raiders to build a lead from there as Jendusa knocked in the final free throws to seal it.
