MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The MSOE men's lacrosse team kicked started their 2023-24 campaign with a statement 5-2 win against the Tigers of Depauw.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 5
Depauw Tigers - 2
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders and Tigers both looked to open their season with a big victory against non-conference competition. The Raiders opened the scoring of the defensive minded battle at the 4:55 mark of the first quarter when freshman Jack Civottolo found Case Roberts for the opening goal of the season to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.
- Soren Savard found the back of the net at the 5:21 mark of the second quarter as the Junior ran point for the Raiders offense. The Raiders went into halftime leading 2-1, and outshooting the Tigers 19-11.
- The Raider and Tigers would exchange goals in the third quarter, with Savard scoring his second goal of the day on a nice feed from Andrew Toman.
- After entering the final frame ahead 3-2, the Raiders' Peter Russchenberg wasted no time giving MSOE some breathing room, scoring less than three minutes into the fourth quarter, and after another Case Roberts goal to make it 5-2, the Raiders held off any semblance of a Tiger comeback to start the season 1-0.
