MADISON, Wis. –
Tommy Clausz lead a charge as the net as well as the service line as the MSOE men's volleyball let a first set loss stop them on the road as they take a four set match with Edgewood College.
RESULT
MSOE RAIDERS – 3
Edgewood - 1
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The home squad saw the early edge as Edgewood (7-13, 3-5 NACC) held a 11-8 early, but was quickly surpassed by MSOE (9-8, 5-2 NACC) after a 4-0 run, capped off by a Matthew Schultz service ace. They continued to go back and forth the rest of the set, forcing extra points to be played as the Eagles capitalized Raider mistake to take the first set 26-24.
- The second set saw many similarities as the Eagles led for the vast majority but never was able to blow away. The Eagles with a chance to clinch it leading 25-24 committed three straight attacking errors to tie things up for a 27-25 win.
- After a kill from Seth Thomas to start the third set, Raiders set the tone with a 7-0 lead, including two service aces from Parker Rings. After the Raiders have already built up a steady lead, the Eagles made a small run to only go down three late, 21-18. Rings added another service ace to end the third set, 25-19, to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead.
- The Eagles didn't want the Raiders to completely run away with the match, keeping things close having a 13-12 midway through. From then on, it was all Red & White as they closed on a 13-1 run, highlighted by four blocks from Matthew Schultz and capped by a Carter Shavitz kill to seal it 25-14.
